It is fair to say that my own traumatic experiences as a child led to a passion for making a difference and helping others. Having the support from skilled professionals allowed me to heal and to take control back over my own life. It was at this time that I developed a passion to become the exception and not the rule that so many had spoken about in terms of cycles of abuse. I wanted to become someone that others could reach out to if/when they too were burdened by the experiences that life (or indeed other people) had exposed them too.
I knew early on in my career that I wished to work with individuals to support them feel empowered and enabled with taking back control within their lives, behaviour and responses to other people. I began to learn that in order for one to be able to do that they first needed to understand their own sense of self, their early experiences (particularly trauma related), and the impact that this may have had on the way they relate to others, and view themselves within their world; and so my wish to embark on a journey to become a qualified therapist begun.
I have been working as a BACP & NCPS registered therapist since 2014.
Prior to becoming a qualified therapist my training and career had been largely focused within health and social care provisions.
I have worked both in the Local Authority and private sector in roles including that of;
